Is there any connection between wearing a trucker cap and hair loss?

If you’ve noticed that you’re starting to lose hair, it’s quite understandable to feel a bit concerned about it. And you might decide to start wearing a trucker cap to mask the early signs of baldness.

But many people wonder if wearing a trucker cap too often can accelerate the speed at which you’re losing your hair.

People lose hair for many different reasons. Most often than not, the cause is hereditary, however some people lose hair from stress, cancer treatment, and other environmental factors.

In this article, we’re going to be taking a closer look at whether or not there’s any correlation between wearing trucker caps and losing hair.

Do trucker caps cause baldness?

In short, the answer is a hard no, trucker caps do not cause baldness. But according to this website, while trucker caps and other hats do not necessarily cause baldness, you may notice the early signs of baldness if your hat causes tension on your hair and scalp.

So what does that mean exactly? Essentially, what it means is that wearing a trucker cap in and of itself will not cause you to lose hair. However, if you wear your trucker cap too tightly, your cap might put unnecessary pressure on your already weak hair follicles. Meaning that when you remove your cap, you might find a few strands of hair are removed with it.

It’s a bit of a catch 22 situation. On the one hand, you may want to wear a trucker cap more often if you’re noticing some hair loss. But If you wear your trucker cap too tightly, it may accelerate the speed at which your hair falls out. So what’s the solution then? Make sure your trucker cap is a relaxed fit, and doesn’t sit too snugly to your head.

Trucker caps also offer other benefits too - they protect your head from the sun, which could be especially important if you’re finding that you’re losing hair. Be sure to choose one of our full fabric trucker caps though, as the common mesh styles won’t do you much good if you’re bald.

What causes hair loss and baldness then?

Now that we’ve established that trucker caps aren’t behind your hair loss or baldness. You might be wondering what causes hair loss in men and women? Here are a few different possible causes of your hair loss.

Hereditary

The most common cause of hair loss and baldness is your genetics. Take a look at your ancestors for clues as to whether you’re destined to have a thinning mop of hair over your lifetime. While you can’t change your genetics, it’s unlikely that you will lose all your hair at once. Most people lose hair gradually over decades, so if you’re starting to notice hair loss and it’s a concern for you you might want to seek out hair implant treatments.

Of course, a more cost-effective solution is to just rock your trucker caps and let nature take its course!

Hormones

Hormones also play a major role in hair loss. This especially applies to women who are pregnant or have just given birth. During pregnancy, after childbirth and during menopause, you may notice a fair bit of hair shedding. This is because of a decrease in the hormone estrogen and progesterone, which are the hormones that promote hair growth. Other hormonal imbalances caused by thyroid problems can also prevent your hair from growing. If you suspect this might be the case, it’s best to schedule a visit with your GP.

Stress

The other major culprit of mysterious hair loss is stress. Severe and prolonged periods of stress can really do some damage to your body. In fact, your immune system may actually start attacking your hair follicles, causing your hair loss. The good news is, this condition is only temporary, and once you have your stress levels back under control, you should see that the hair loss clears up on its own and returns to normal.
