Love your light coloured trucker cap or deep fit cap but hate the thought of cleaning it? We don’t blame you! Keeping your trucker cap as crisp as it was the day you bought it can be tricky, especially if you’ve never washed a trucker cap before.
That being said, cleaning your light coloured trucker caps or deep fit caps doesn’t need to be difficult, in fact, there are a few simple methods you can use to keep your cap looking fresh and crisp.
If your light coloured trucker cap or deep fit cap needs a wash, keep reading. In this article, we’ll take you through how to clean your light coloured trucker caps properly.
Most trucker caps and deep fit caps are made from a variety of different materials, meaning that cleaning them can sometimes be tricky.
In the case of GFour trucker caps and deep fit caps, we recommend spot cleaning your cap with a damp cloth. In the case that spot cleaning isn’t effective at cleaning your cap, pop it in the dishwasher (yes, you read that right!) and run it through a cleaning cycle. It should go without saying, but we’ll say it here anyway, do NOT put your cap in the dishwasher with other dirty dishes.
Also - never put GFour trucker caps or deep fit caps in the washing machine. It will completely destroy your cap, and we don’t want that!
Don’t make this mistake when cleaning your light coloured trucker caps
You might be tempted to think that because your trucker cap is a light colour, it should be ok to bleach it back to its crispy whiteness. But to be honest, that’s a bad idea!
We recommend avoiding bleach at all costs when cleaning your white trucker caps or deep fit caps. Why? Because the material on your cap may erode and it’ll never be the same as it used to be. In fact, the stain you were trying to remove may end up even looking worse. Not a good idea!
Is machine washing ok for trucker caps?
To be honest, no we don’t think so! Machine washing will most likely completely destroy your trucker cap, and most other caps for that matter. It’s always best to hand wash your trucker cap to prevent it from losing its shape, and to ensure it doesn’t get damaged in the wash.
If you’re dealing with a stubborn stain, try using a gentle stain remover before washing (remember not bleach!). Because your trucker cap is a light colour, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the product being colour safe.
Hand washing your light coloured trucker caps and deep fit caps
Hand washing is easily the best way to clean your light coloured trucker caps and deep fit caps properly. This is because it keeps you in control, so that you’re not at the mercy of a machine that may or may not harm your precious cap.
To hand wash your trucker caps, grab a large bowl, a bucket, or simply fill up the laundry sink with warm soapy water. If you don’t want to use washing detergent bi-carb soda makes for a good chemical free cleaning alternative.
Leave your hat to soak for a little while before coming back and scrubbing away any stubborn stains with a small brush or cloth. When you’re satisfied that your trucker cap is nice and clean, rinse off the soap and place your hat outdoors to air dry for a day or so. Then you can enjoy your freshly cleaned trucker cap again!
